Toasted Turkey & Gravy Sub
Makes: 1 serving
- 1 hoagie or submarine bun
- 4 oz (114 g) cooked Ontario turkey strips
- 1 oz prepared gravy
- 2 slices (28.5 g) Cheddar cheese
- 2 oz (56.5 g) sautéed mushrooms
- 2 oz caramelized onions
To make mushrooms, sauté with olive oil and salt and pepper to taste until mushrooms are golden.
To make caramelized onions, toss 1 large thinly sliced onion with 1 tbsp brown sugar. Sauté in 1 tbsp olive oil on low heat until the onion is transparent and dark brown in colour.
Toast bun. Toss turkey strips in hot gravy. Layer bottom bun with turkey strips. Top with cheese, mushrooms and onions. Top with bun and serve!
